Ysgol Caer Elen Hub

Children of key workers and vulnerable children have been provided with a childcare facility hub at Ysgol Caer Elen since Monday, 22nd June.

We would like to remind you that the school’s main priority is to ensure everyone’s health and safety. The purpose of the hub is to provide childcare only and no designated lessons will be provided. However, facilities are available for pupils to continue online tasks during the day where possible. In line with Government guidelines, if your child/ren can be cared for outside of school, this is the preferred option.

If there is a significant increase in the number of pupils attending the hub, this could have an impact on the numbers able to return to school.

As an increasing number of parents return to work, we would like to emphasise that we can only accept children of Key Workers and vulnerable children in the hub in line with LEA rules. Your child/ren should not be sent to the hub if you can work from home.

Do not send your child/ren to the hub if they are ill.

Any pupil who has received a shielding letter or living with a vulnerable person with a chronic medical condition should not attend the Hub.

For further information on how to book a place at the hub, please contact the school office.

Hub Entrance
The Hub is located in the Secondary Hall and adjacent rooms. Pupils will need to enter to the right of the Secondary entrance. Parents and pupils will be expected to follow the one-way system and respect the 2-meter social distancing rules.

Hub Hours
The Hub will be open from 8:00am-17:00pm. Parents will be expected to collect their child/ren as soon as possible and before 17:00pm each day.

Catering Provision
Breakfast will be available for children between 8:00am and 8:30am only. Lunch will be available free of charge until June 26th. After this date, food will need to be purchased apart for pupils who are eligible for free school meals. Meals will be provided in the School refectory. Any pupil is welcome to bring a packed lunch. Everyone must bring a sufficient water for a full day.

Dress Code
Pupils are not expected to wear school uniform, but rather comfortable clothes that are easy to wash at the end of each day. Please remember that a hat and sunscreen will be necessary during any period of hot weather.

Personal Property
Your child will not be allowed to bring personal belongings to the Hub other than a lunch box, fruit and water bottle.

If your child has to take medication during the day, this must be passed to Hub staff at the start of the day e.g. asthma pump. If a child is ill during the day, the School will contact you to collect them.

First Aid / Personal Hygiene
If first aid or assistance with personal hygiene is required, staff will wear PPE. Your child/ren will be welcome to bring spare clothes if required.

Behavioural Expectations
Pupils are expected to adhere to the requirements of social distancing and display responsible behaviour in accordance with the School’s policy.
