Commonly known as the Senedd, it makes laws for Wales, agrees Welsh taxes and holds the Welsh Government to account.
Following discussions amongst our Senedd members regarding a logo for our school Senedd, please see below our final design. Many thanks to Mr. L Barrow for his creative work in bringing together pupils’ ideas and also to all Senedd members for their valued contribution to the final design.
What is the School Senedd?
Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) states that children and young people should have a say in decisions that affect their lives. The school Senedd provides a meaningful way for pupils to voice their opinion and for their opinions to be considered and respected in decisions that affect them. Pupils of the school are elected to be members of the Senedd, which meets at least 6 times a year to discuss whole School issues, and to ensure that the pupil's voice is represented as the school develops and implements new policies and to identify priorities for improvement. The Senedd provides opportunities for our learners to discuss matters relating to the school, and to submit comments to the governing body and the head teacher. The Senedd is responsible for a number of committees - see our 'Pupil Committees' page.
2024-25 Priorities
One of the school's priorities this year is to strengthen the pupil's voice within our school, and to ensure that it is at the heart of our decisions and provision. We strongly believe in ensuring that our pupils have a strong influence on how our school develops. Pupils can do this through a number of ways, such as questionnaires during the year or joining one of our committees. The school Senedd will lead on this; however, the work of the Senedd is reinforced by our committees.
