The Learning Environment
Creating a stimulating and motive learning environment is a priority for Caer Elen whether inside or outside the classroom. School teachers strive to make the learning environment a stimulating, motive and safe place where pupils feel ready to take risks, learn how to fail as well as survive and celebrate success.
PROGRESS STEPS 1 AND 2
Progress Steps 1 and 2 include indoor and outdoor learning areas. Ongoing provision includes a number of areas that stimulate pupils' curiosity and interest. Equally, provision is enriched with up-to-date resources that develop pupils' knowledge, understanding and skills.
An example of the areas shown here are:
- Inside - Miri's Marks, Digital Den, Scribbling Stand and the Discovery Area.
- Outside - Digging Patch, Happy Stage and the Language and Music Area.
PROGRESS STEP 3
In Progress Step 3, classrooms include stimulating and interesting learning areas. Pupils have the opportunity to work independently and as part of focus groups. These pupils also have the opportunity to use resources such as the Digital Den, Cooking rooms, the Science labs and the Sports Hall. An example of the areas shown here are:
- Inside - Literacy Shelter, Numeracy Region, Island of Investigation and Creative Hut.
PROGRESS STEPS 4 and 5
To ensure the consistency and continuum of effective teaching and learning, teachers in Progression Steps 4 and 5 have applied the idea of ​​interactive displays. There are various exhibitions that promote the 4 purposes, literacy, numeracy and digital competence skills as well as an exhibition that encourages pupils' research and curiosity.
